La Parguera is a small fishing village located at the southwestern region of Puerto Rico and is part of the town of Lajas. In the   summer it is a mecca for tourists who practice diverse water sports. It is also home to some of the best diving places in Puerto Rico. While in La Parguera you must visit the Phosphorescent Bay. Bioluminescence effect is produced by a permanent population of tiny microorganisms called Dinoflagellates. These living animals produce a  chemical spark of  light when disturbed in the water. They can produce a striking effect of green and white diamonds that can only be seen at night. Most tours are a quick boat ride in and out of the bay.
